the best romance? probably between me and lee dong-wook.

I have to say, Korean movies aren't really becoming an obsession for me. There's often something quite mediocre about them, so that very few end up being my favourites or even rewatchable. I do enjoy the stars, though, and occasionally I run into a title I really, really want to see for some reason or another.

The Best Romance has a frighteningly ambitious title for a romantic comedy. It's about a cop and a journalist who writes mostly about entertainment (but aspires to be more) and how they meet, and how she stabs him with wooden snack stick. At least, this is what I gathered from the trailer. It seemed pretty hilarious, though I didn't become a fan of the female character just yet.

But thankfully there's Lee Dong-wook, who I know from the kdrama My Girl and who has one of the most embarrassing names and nicknames in the whole of South Korea (honestly, if you were a fan, would you dare call your idol Wookie? No offense to LDW fangirls but come on!). I think the pictures from the film speak for themselves (though this won't stop me from making vapid commentary to them, but don't let that distract you from the extreme hot).

Poster.

Second poster. Wow, this happy couple sure looks thrilled!

Badass cop action.

I don't know how they make it so his hair always stays the same way in every picture but I must say I like it.

It's not just your dirty imagination that he's a cop, as he also has a badge to show for it.

This confirms my suspicions that the REAL best romance is intended to be between LDW and the female audience.

Okay, there's also a girl in this. Nevermind!

A lucky girl, at that.

Because what's a little blood when you have the best romance, right?

Okay, I'll shut up now.

(This is just ten million types of hilarious.)

I suspect it'll be mediocre as a film but it seems to have done good in the Korean box office so who knows. Waiting for DVD release on this one. :)

ETA: I also thought that he was especially great in the parody bits of My Girl, and while I loooooved the character of Gong-chan, the parody portions made me think, "Wow, this guy would be great in a more expressive comedy role!".
