Am I slightly surprised the Yuletide Assignments got sent out today already but I guess it's cool, gives me more time to write and work on the story.
Sooo...
Dear Yuletide Santa,
Hmm, what could I say that I didn't
say last year because my views haven't really changed so yeah, you could pretty much just read that entry. It's so general it fits my last year's requests as well as those I did this year.
To be a tiny bit more specific, though, the fandoms I requested this year are ones I simply cannot write, though I love them myself. Some of them I have tried writing but failed miserably, even in my own opinion. So I understand they can be tricky to work with.
Hmm, what else. Well, writing stylewise you needn't worry, I am pretty easy to please - as I said in last year's letter, "just do your thing", I'll probably like it. I'm cool with fics that're more segmented and sort of show "moments" that tie together somehow - that's something I do a lot myself - but I also love stories that're structured more traditionally. If I asked for something character-centric, it's okay to focus on the character's inner thoughts instead of, hmm, actions or things happening around them. But if you're good at writing the sort of more "adventurous" fic, go for it!
If I have "fic kinks", they're probably witty dialogue, angst to a certain extent, sweet moments that aren't too mushy..
To get all weird and philosophical on you for a while, for me Yuletide has always been about rediscovering or just really working with the canon material. So I hope you like the canon material enough to look into it again and enjoy it and draw inspiration from it.
I think that's it. Enjoy writing, & have a good Yuletide (Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah etc etc).
PS. Even though I didn't request it, slash is so totally fine in my book. So if your fic ends up having slashiness (as it could with some of my requests), it's totally fine & I'll probably embrace it with glee. :)
PPS. I don't think most writers would write something outrageous unless specifically requested but yeah, even though I occasionally enjoy pr0n, I normally enjoy fics rated G to R. More character stuff, less sex - though that doesn't mean there can't be sex or hot moments in the fic.
