Guy's advice to Mac was sort of confusing to me. Maybe Guy doesn't really like Caroline, or doesn't like her enough to want her for himself. Maybe he's just in it for sex. Maybe he values friendship with Mac over getting it with Caroline. I'm so confused right now. One thing's for sure, though - Guy has layers, alright. He's strangely complex for such an obvious asshole.
I thought it was also a little OOC for the usual mickey-taking asshole Guy we all know ... but then I thought, maybe he's really seeing Caroline's point of view in this because he cares about, even loves her, and is sticking up for her in a way, perhaps without realising how odd it sounds for him to stick up for someone like that. The way I saw it, he was telling Mac not to be so hard on Caroline in a language that Mac would understand (coming from Guy anyway), which wouldn't give too much away about how Guy might feel for Caroline. I hope that makes sense, it does in my head!

Your view makes sense in my head, as well. I think maybe it was partly that and partly the fact that even though competitive rivals, Guy & Mac are also kind of mates with one another. So in a way Guy was giving advice to Mac as if a friend, but at the same time it wasn't like he was all "Please get together with Caroline!".
