[Oh Bruce. Cissie is still pissed at you, because you hurt her friends and were a thoughtless ass. But she figures you won't care, so this is public and oh so dry.]

There was the one where the wardens were locked up and tortured by ghosts, and there was the world overrun by zombies. I'd call those interesting.

... Only the wardens? What happened to the inmates?

[ He... actually has no idea that she's pissed. ]

They had to get through the haunted house on their own, find our items and rescue us.

[Yeah, that's... not surprising. But Bruce, when the way you handle your sons makes her think of her mother, that's not a good sign.]

... Ah. They have to do it on their own volition, or is there something to motivate them other than the wardens' safety?

[ ....... sob. ]

That's the only time it's happened quite like that, and no. It was up to them if they bothered.

[aaaand tersely, because it needs saying but Tim and Sylar would disapprove]

Sylar saved Tim. He tried to help me too, but that's not how it worked. Dick and Steph weren't here yet.

[ ...... Hah. That's new. That's definitely new. ]

... Ah. That's- [ there's a tiny, tiny smile there ] good to hear.

[ Mostly he's attributing that to Tim being an awesome warden. ]

Did most of the inmates bother?

[That's a totally fair assumption, and part of Cissie's point. Look at what a good job your kids are doing, Bruce. >:| ...Also leave Sylar alone but that's another can of worms.]

If I remember correctly, yes, for the most part. My friend Molly's inmate only rescued her to earn her trust so she could screw her over later, and I'm pretty sure mine--not Isaac, someone else--only came after me because he knew the consequences for not bothering would be worse than bothering. But a lot of them--like Sylar--actually cared.

[ He is still Not Trusting of Sylar, but he trusts Tim, so. So... ]

What happened to the wardens who weren't saved by their inmates? [ He cocks his head. ]

And I'll assume that the locks can't be picked out.

[ Since TIM has to be rescued, lol. ]

[That is progress. Now if he'd admit this to Tim...]

It happened in August. [Yeah. That present tense is annoying her. It's been a while since she really thought about that port and it's... bothering her more than she thought it would.] No, there was no way to even get to the locks from the inside. No door handles, nothing. They were cells. Mine filled with water for hours. If you weren't rescued, chances are you died.

... You die, and you reappear back on the ship?

[ He rubs at his eyes a little. ]

It sounds like a horror movie. Or even one of those tests Amanda Young keeps talking about.

Yeah. If you die in a port, your body reappears on the Barge and you get to go through the death toll here. [Pause.] It was a lot like that, yeah.

[ He scowls a lot. ]

... Hm. Why did you go down to port in the first place?

[Oh Bruce. Now Cissie is pissy and not bothering to hide it.]

It's not exactly like the Admiral announces when we're going to a world full of zombies or torturous ghosts. You take your chances with every port; this last one, we were incredibly lucky it didn't turn out to be an island of headhunters and cannibals and we wouldn't have known until we were there. We didn't even get a choice about that port either--we were grabbed directly from the Barge, there was no option to stay behind.
