[ There's an odd echoing quality to Bruce's voice when he speaks, but it's almost unnoticeable. ]

That almost seems like a vacation.

I'll take it that most ports aren't so benign.

[ A pause. ]

I'm still rather new. What are some of the most interesting ports that you all remember?

[Oh Bruce. Cissie is still pissed at you, because you hurt her friends and were a thoughtless ass. But she figures you won't care, so this is public and oh so dry.]

There was the one where the wardens were locked up and tortured by ghosts, and there was the world overrun by zombies. I'd call those interesting.

They had to get through the haunted house on their own, find our items and rescue us.

[Yeah, that's... not surprising. But Bruce, when the way you handle your sons makes her think of her mother, that's not a good sign.]

That's the only time it's happened quite like that, and no. It was up to them if they bothered.

If I remember correctly, yes, for the most part. My friend Molly's inmate only rescued her to earn her trust so she could screw her over later, and I'm pretty sure mine--not Isaac, someone else--only came after me because he knew the consequences for not bothering would be worse than bothering. But a lot of them--like Sylar--actually cared.

It happened in August. [Yeah. That present tense is annoying her. It's been a while since she really thought about that port and it's... bothering her more than she thought it would.] No, there was no way to even get to the locks from the inside. No door handles, nothing. They were cells. Mine filled with water for hours. If you weren't rescued, chances are you died.

It sounds like a horror movie. Or even one of those tests Amanda Young keeps talking about.

Yeah. If you die in a port, your body reappears on the Barge and you get to go through the death toll here. [Pause.] It was a lot like that, yeah.

It's not exactly like the Admiral announces when we're going to a world full of zombies or torturous ghosts. You take your chances with every port; this last one, we were incredibly lucky it didn't turn out to be an island of headhunters and cannibals and we wouldn't have known until we were there. We didn't even get a choice about that port either--we were grabbed directly from the Barge, there was no option to stay behind.
