my Valentine's Day thoughts
Well whether or not we want to think about it, today is Valentine's day. A day of love, of romance, and of immeasurable psychological damage to men around the country as they try their hardest to come up with the perfect gift for their special lady on this day. =)
If you have a special lady or special man in your life, enjoy them and thank the Lord for that special person in your life because they are a gift from God.
But for some of us, we are once again Valentine-less. This day comes around and we feel like smashing all those pink and red candy boxes, popping all those heart shaped balloons, and throwing all the roses in the world into a huge fire. Well, maybe that's just me - but you get the point that it can be a not so happy day for the single guy or girl on this day.
So to you guys who don't have someone on this day to stress over and spend countless dollars on to woo them for the day, take heart because you're saving a lot of money! Seriously, though - even though this day may be hard, just smile at all those loving couples knowing that one day you will be part of one of those couples.
Ladies, don't feel bad if you don't have a Valentine yet- it just means that you haven't yet found someone who will treat you like the princess you are. In time, the guy for you will come around and will fall head over heels for you and will know how to properly adore you.
As a guy who is now on his 20th V-day alone, I encourage you all: be patient. Psalm 37:7 tells us to "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him". In other words, God knows best and when the time is right, He'll allow us all to find our loves.
Remember, first part of the famous "love" chapter in 1 Corinthians 13 says that love is patient. We too must be patient and not settle for cheap love, but wait on the Lord for true love.
