I keep thinking about how fast things can change in as little as a week. It's mind-blowing, really.
I continuously thought about it after hearing about the Kelsey Smith case.. her family and friends had no idea she'd be kidnapped and later found murdered within the span of half a week. It still really breaks my heart.
But awesome things can happen too. Like Keegan and I getting a dachshund! Last Saturday I was at my cousin's wedding and had no idea that next week at that time, I'd have a new doggie!!
I very randomly went to look for guinea pigs on craigslist on Tuesday morning, responded to the ad about a dachshund, and had to wait two agonizing days, before being told that someone else had asked before us. The guy said he'd call this evening if the other people didn't get back to him, and he did! I'm very excited, even though dachshunds are apparently very stubborn and strongly attached to their owners.. so she may throw fits for a while. But the guy did say she loves other dogs, so maybe Jo will help. I hope they like each other. I'm also sad that I'm leaving soon, because she might not remember me when I get back, and she'll have to be left for long stretches at a time. If I were here, it would be a lot less time that they'd be alone during the day.
Her name is Chloe and she is the reddish-brown type, which is my favorite! She's six years old and apparently very sweet. I just hope she adjusts well, doesn't bark a lot, and doesn't chew things up.. Jolie hardly barks at all, so this dog better not teach her anything.
