Ok anyone here any good at first aid? Or setting broken fingers because I might have managed to fuck mine up last week. I taped them myself but I'm not healin' like I normally do thanks to whatever this house has done to my powers. I mean, they're not totally pokin' out in the wrong way and I've had way worse pain not just the physical kind,

06. Nice ta meet ya too. I'll be glad when we got runnin' water again, I'm HIGH wishin' for a shower, but I survived worse. More not wantin' ta offend anyone's nose than really givin' a shit m'self. [He chuckled] Wishin' m'materia worked, too, it make it a lot easier ta get yer fingers fixed, but I patched m'self up without it multiple times.

Know how it feels ta have th'hands messed up, though, it sucks.

Another day or two and it's not gonna matter - we're all gonna stink so no one can say one person stinks more than the other unless they're paranoid or lookin' to get their head smacked. Materia? I'm just wishin' that my powers weren't shot to hell. Usually I heal stuff like this in a day or two.

I've had way worse though, it's just that it's the hand I write with so I keep going to pick stuff up and I drop it or end up aggravatin' it.

[Faith leaves her room and knocks on the door of room 206, taking care to knock with her left hand rather than her right lest she damage her injured fingers further.]

[He opens the door, first aid kit, antibiotics, and plaster already in hand when he opens it.] Come on in. I got some Keystone and some brandy and about half a bottle o'tequila in here too. Liquor'll help dull the pain while I set these things.

[She slips past him, clocking the alcohol.]

Where'd you manage to get all that? You raid Church's room? Anyway, I don't think I'll need it for the pain, just go with me when I say I've had a million times worse than this.

Not exactly. [He smirks, he made a promise, so he's not going to tell her how] Let's just say having friends in the right places helps. [He gestures her to sit down on the bed and opens one of his bottles of water to wet down the plaster.] Here, let me see. [He pulls her hand down into his lap, and checks out the fingers.] Just need ta pull 'em all out straight like so. [does so] Make sure the bones line up, an' wrap 'em.

{as soon as he's sure the bones are all set properly he wraps the wet down and adjusted plaster around the broken areas and splints them together. It's obvious he's done this before at least once, as the deft motions would indicate.]

You know people in the house from before? Lucky. [She lets him work on her hand, remembering previous experiences of being patched up when she couldn't heal herself.] God, this is so frustratin'. I hate not being able to go to bed and wake up with my fingers back the way they should be. [As she examines her fingers, she tilts her head and looks at him.] What d'you do that means you're so good at this?

Was a Turk. We're basically bodyguards/intelligence agents/sometimes hired assassins. Ain't th'safest job in the world, so I've had ta patch m'self up on more'n occasion when I had no materia, potions, or medical care handy. Also from th'slums, ya learn how ta do it early there, or ya don't survive long once yer old enough ta get hassled.

Slayin' isn't easy either but we don't nee that materia or potions. We can heal up pretty well on our own but it takes a lot for us to get injured in the first place - enhanced strength, stamina, reflexes. This house dulls 'em. You have a rough childhood?

Yeah. ..lost Momma young, Dad was. . .well he wasn't m'real dad, but he was a prick. Left home at 15. [He falls silent a few moments, he doesn't normally talk about his childhood, but he feels like he can trust Faith, which is an unusual thing.] Spent a year on th'streets, got picked up by ShinRa at 16.

[Faith gives a laugh but it's hollow. She never knows how to react when she hears someone who's had a life that is so like her own. One the one hand it's comforting that she's not the only one to go through that level of bullshit but on the other hand it makes her remember too much.]

Didn't know my dad either, not till after he died, mom had a load of deadbeats in and out, one or two decent guys right up till she died after I started my Slayer trainin'.

Hooked for that year. ..s'onea th'only ways for a slums kid ta survive if they leave home early. I'm just kinda glad ShinRa did pick me up. May notta been the safest job in th'world, but they gave me a life. I owe 'em for that. We're survivors though, Faith, an' that's a good thing. [He suddenly smiles, he feels COMFORTABLE dropping the sleek, smirking, jokester mask with someone he knows has been through it some. Faith GETS it.]

Same for me. I mean...bein' a Slayer, it's not what I'd have picked, it fucked me up a hundred times over but for the first time someone gave two shits about me. [She's quiet for a moment as she gets a flash of her first Watcher being killed and shakes her head.] Survivin' ain't the same as livin' but it's close enough for now. [She's never talked about anything like this to anyone beyond Angel and Spike because no one else had gone through what she had.]
