Ah, Movie Sage, you have outdone yourself. This is an extremely astute assessment of the tangled relationship between film and "real life." So often our own relationships can seem disappointing and rab when compared to the emtional fireworks involved in cinematic couplings. Even when, as you point out, they often end in sadness, their brief lifetime seems to possess an energy and intensity which leaves our own relationships feeling somewhat lackluster. It's good to be reminded that it is, indeed, fantasy, and that their attempts to form bondings in the real world are usually as fumbled, inept, and dysfunctional as our own. :)
Personally, I look forward to the post-Valentine's Day sales, when I can snap up all those leftover chocolates and flowers at discount prices. :)
