Lt. John Dunbar is about to discover the frontier... within himself.

Had my first shift at work last night. It went alright. As near as I can tell, "usher" is just a fancy term for "janitor." But hell, I'll take it.

Also, FYI, "porter" is a fancy term for "janitor who cleans only bahtrooms." One of the crappy things about having a minimum wage job is it forces me to look at all my purchases in terms of how many hours of menial labor it'll cost me. I was staring at the menu at the concession stand last night and found myself thinking, "One hour of my time isn't worth a soda and popcorn."

Two papers stand between me and graduation. A fifteen page paper on Shakespearean comedies, and a ten page paper on a modern poet of my choosing. The Shakespearean one will be a grind, but I'm sure I'll do well on it. The ten page one is more of challenge; I've been trying to pick a poet and come up with a thesis for weeks now, to no avail. I'll likely do Louise Erdrich. Her poem "Jacklight" is downright amazing. I'll have to pick up her first book and see if there's enough there for a paper.

Wish me luck.
