"An army."

So yesterday the guys came over and we played our first game of Dungeons and Dragons ever. It lasted a hearty seven hours. I got a lot of ideas on how I could improve it more the next time (most involving shortening it), but it was a hell of a lot of fun. I'm already itching for my next chance to play. I'll definitely be looking for a group to play with when I head back to Boston... hopefully one with an experienced DM, so I can see things from the player's side of things.

Anyway, with this experience in mind, I've compiled a list of real new year's resolutions. Number one is to finally get published. I'll talk to William Orem this semester, and try to find a cool little sci-fi/fantasy/horror mag in Boston. I will also probably submit some poetry to the student magazines at Emerson.

But anyway, my secondary resolution (the one related to D&D) is to embrace my inner dork. I've wanted to play D&D since I was in middle school, so I'm going to do it. I've always been fascinated by video games, and I've always wanted to have a hand in making them, so I'm going to do that, too. I'm going to stop pretending that I'm somehow better than the dorks in some miniscule way; I'm going to stop going to bars and keggers (or sitting at home, wishing I was going to them) when I'd really rather be battling orcs. I'm going to have a lot more fun, as a result.

Tertiary resolutions include the usual crap of losing weight and eating healthier and being more confident and having healthier relationships and blah blah blah. You know, junk I'll likely abandon in a month's time, like everybody else.

But I feel pretty good about those first two!
