This one was freakin' time-consuming

Five Things About Me
1.) I'm intensely private, but honest and open (sometimes to a fault) at the same time.
2.) I try to be selfish sometimes, but I was raised Catholic (which doesn't mean I'm unselfish, but that I have a naturally guilty conscience).
3.) I have a fervent love-hate relationship with my hair.
4.) The number of close friends I have has dwindled down to very few, but I love them intensely and am very glad they are part of my life.
5.) I have an insatiable love for reading which I rarely indulge because books so often disappoint me lately.

Five Details of My Appearance Right Now:
1.) Light grey Piner High School gym sweatpants.
2.) Caribbean blue camisole, insanely comfortable
3.) I need to repaint my fingernails and toenails, or at least remove what's left of the last color (I normally wouldn't mind, but it's a dark color)
4.) I'm wearing ruby earrings in my second holes because the iron cross earrings I was wearing before these made one of the holes infected and I needed good jewelry for a bit - the iron crosses will be back next week
5.) I look like death because my freakin' brother decided to be sick and cough all over my pillow, so now I'm sick, too

Five Things I Did Yesterday:
1.) Took a lot of codeine cough syrup
2.) Read some more of Stephen King's Everything's Eventual
3.) Watched some of An Evening with Kevin Smith, which is a documentary-type film about a series of speaking gigs Kevin Smith did at colleges and universities around the country, talking about his life and writing and films and stuff like that. It's absolutely hilarious.
4.) Slept in really late :)
5.) Played in the rain and splashed around in some puddles

Five Memorable Things You Did Last Year:
1.) Moved from South Carolina back to New York
2.) Developed a spectacular friendship with Stephanie, my brother's ex-girlfriend (they were still dating when she and I got close, and it was quite interesting when they broke up)
3.) Learned a lot about marketing, advertising, public relations, writing, editing, copyrighting, manufacturing, sales, graphic design, photography, printing and general office politics and practices in one of the best experiences of my life
4.) Turned 21, which really wasn't that memorable at all
5.) Hired Sebastian and had him move in with me and my family

Five Favorite Singers/Groups:
1.) The Frames - have loved them for five years now, if not a little longer, and I still can't get enough. They've introduced me to so many other bands and singers that I love dearly, so instead of listing them all separately, I'll include them in this one because they're so closely related: Bell x1, Damien Rice, Snow Patrol, Mark geary, Keane, Josh Ritter, Mic Christopher, Juniper, David Kitt, Gemma Hayes, Mundy, Paddy Casey, The Mary Janes, probably a few more
2.) Michael Jackson - I've loved him since I was a little, little girl - my mom even has a tape of videos that she taped off of MTV when they had a little marathon. He may be one of the strangest celebrities in history, but I don't think it's his fault, and it does nothing to change the fact that he is also one of the most talented, innovative and creative celebrities in history.
3.) Tool/A Perfect Circle - a friend of mine in Norway introduced me to Tool about 4 or 5 years ago and I've been in love since. I had heard about A Perfect Circle and didn't like them - not that I had ever heard them, just what kind of music they performed. I was a real snob about music then, FAR worse than I am now, so I didn't give them a second thought. Then I got into Tool and happened to hear a APC song and was like, "Wow - they really sound like Tool!" and my friend said, "That's because they're like the same band, retard" and I was floored (and shamed). The infatuation faded for a little while there, but I got really into APC again recently, which awoke the Tool infatuation, and it's now on full-force. I'm really enjoying it.
4.) Ben Gibbard - also known as Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service and a DNTEL song called (This is) The Dream of Evan and Chan. Serious devotion to Postal Service (not exactly sure why), like DCFC a lot, and Evan and Chan is one of my all-time favorite songs. This spawned a love of DNTEL, which spawned a love of electronic and "chilled" music, and helped to reignite the love of techno (also helped along by many parties at Sal's house).
5.) Chicago/Led Zeppelin/The Eagles - all stemmed from my father's excellent, successful attempts to wean me onto good music when I was a child. Sure, I loved my Barry Manilow and Huey Lewis and the News and Michael Jackson and Wilson Phillips when I was little - but he planted the seed young, and around high school, I "discovered" these three spectacular bands, and I love them all dearly. I'm very grateful to my father for instilling me with a love of music, and especially good music; I'm also grateful that he didn't force me into one genre, and likes when I explore other genres, because he gains a wider taste as I do. Make sense? Sorry, that went on and on, very strangely.

Five Favorite Movies:
1.) Before Sunrise and Before Sunset - starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. They meet on a train in Europe, and Hawke has to get off in Vienna and convinces Delpy, who he had met only hours before, to get off in Vienna with him and spend the rest of the day and night with him before he catches a plane back to the states the next morning. They spend the entire night walking around Vienna and talking and stuff like that, and then agree to meet back in Vienna exactly six months later. Before Sunset is the sequel, taking place ten or so years later, in which you find out they did not meet in Vienna; in fact, they had never been in any kind of contact. He writes a book about that night and is doing a book tour and ends up in Paris, where she lives, and they meet up again. They spend the rest of the afternoon together, before his flight back to the states, talking and catching up and reminiscing. They sound boring, but they really are interesting.
2.) Queen of the Damned - my "I want to kill someone and that's bad because I don't want to go to jail" movie - violence, and yes, I know it's crappy, camp violence, but it works. Also, the soundtrack is pretty damn good. I know it's a shitty movie, but it's fun and Stuart Townsend is hot.
3.) Bio-Dome - it's absolutely Pauly Shore crap, but I freakin' love it. It's hilarious with an awesome plot (awesome for Shore, anyway) and Stephen Baldwin and Joey Lauren Adams and Rose McGowan are in it - and it's just so damn funny. Always cheers me up.
4.) 1776 - a Broadway musical about the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence that is wondrously written and acted. One of my favorites since a child, and I watch it all the time, at least once a year (on the Fourth of July, obviously), and hopefully with my dad - it's one of his favorites, too, and we sing it together. I'm very into history and music and this is the perfect solution for that. :)
5.) Fight Club - feeds my violent moods rather than soothing them, as Queen of the Damned does. But it also feeds my intellect, and it's almost as good as the book. In my opinion, one of Brad Pitt's greatest roles, and Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter are fab as well. Very well-executed and it keeps you on your toes the entire time - either by thinking, "My God, what the fuck is he gonna do next?" or "My God, what the fuck are they doing?!" It comes off as a violent movie, and it is, but I think the intelligent dialogue and theories surpass the violence - the violence is a vehicle to drive the surprisingly "deep" plot.

Five Things That Make Me Happy:
1.) Music, always - almost any kind, it is so deeply a part of my life.
2.) Watching a new episode of my favorite TV shows - Nip/Tuck, Family Guy, The West Wing, Lost, Gilmore Girls
3.) Reading a really good book, or hearing that one of my favorite authors is coming out with a new book.
4.) Getting a good night's sleep.
5.) Being with my friends.

Five Things That Impress Me:
1.) Anyone with real morals, beliefs and values that can stick by them (but won't push them onto people that don't share them)
2.) People with real talent that use it to better themselves - writers, thinkers, singers, musicians, whatever it is; especially if they don't get big-headed about it.
3.) People who give good massages.
4.) In this day and age, a really good, daring, unique song. There are so few now.
5.) People that can still honestly smile even in the worst of times.

Five Things That Don't Impress Me:
1.) Most pop music.
2.) Racist/sexist/prejudiced assholes that got jokes (basically, the North Babylon Fire Company)
3.) Immaturity all the time, not just for fun every now and then
4.) Egomaniacal jackasses
5.) Good looks with no brains to back it up

Five Things I Can't Live Without:
1.) Music
2.) Friends
3.) Diet Pepsi
4.) Books
5.) Kisses
