I just resized like 40 Costa Rica photos. it takes a long time. the first bunch were from San Jose, and tons were of buildings. so boring. but I know I will want them later. anyhow I felt like updating so here is an AWESOME bird story from CR for you guys, complete with pictures, of course. Even if you are not a birder you should so look because I think this was my best bird experience there. there's 2 (crappy) videos too!!

Okay so this was our first day in La Selva (we had just arrived there the afternoon before) and we divided up into two groups of like 8 people each, and we each had a naturalist, and we headed into the jungle! we had to all wear rubber boots in case of snakebite (!). anyhow so our guide talked sooooooo much; it took like 45 minutes to even get into the actual jungle! it was kind of frustrating. but so when we got into the jungle, it's PAVED paths. paved paths through the rainforest! crazy. anyhow so we hadn't even gone like 50 feet when Amy sees this thing run across the road. Amy has great eyes; she spotted a lot of stuff there. and we look and our guide tells us that it's a freakin GREAT TINAMOU!!

it was so awesome.

Great Tinamou!!

again.

So our guide is telling us about Great Tinamous, and he's all, "The males are the ones who take care of the eggs, and they're turquoise," and THEN, as we are watching him (we knew it was a male cuz of what our guide said), Amy watches as it walks over to these freaking eggs!!! they were like, "look! the eggs!"

oh it was so awesome.

here he is! I saved this picture last of the 3 with him in it, because it is the best. :) I'm happy with how it turned out!

later after he went away we got closer to the eggs to take a closer pic.

So anyhow that was absolutely amazing. it was just my first day in the rainforest, but I remember thinking, no matter what else happens on this trip, this was worth it!

So after our long walk for an hour or two, we came back along that same route. we looked to see the eggs again and

there were now three eggs!! It was so, so awesome.

I have two videos of the Tinamou walking around. the first one is long and not so great cuz he's just kinda frozen, but at the end you can see him moving around, and you can also hear the guide talking about Great Tinamous. the second video is very short but it's cool cuz he's walking around more. I just watched them from youtube and they're pretty crappy quality but you can still see the bird.
