1.  Joey Comeau (the guy who writes A Softer World) has a blog where he reviews and discusses horror movies, and it's excellent. I felt strangely vindicated to discover that he also thought that The Others (the linked review contains a MAJOR PLOT SPOILER; read it at your own risk) was a well-constructed, underrated psychological horror / haunted house movie. I haven't seen The Others since I was fourteen, so I might have a different opinion of the film if I were to watch it right now, but I remember really enjoying it and being disappointed to discover that it hadn't been too well-received by either critics or audiences.

He's also made me want to see (the original Thai version of) Shutter, even though I totally spoiled the movie's Big Reveal for myself by reading that review. (I have no interest in watching the American remake of Shutter.) Pontypool sounds interesting, too: "It's also a zombie movie where the zombie virus is transmitted via language instead of bodily fluids. The virus infects lexemes. I think this is the first linguistics horror movie, and for that alone I love it."

2.  This is, perhaps, my favorite set of fashion photos of all time ever. It's like grungy, pale-fabricked femininity with flower crowns, and, most importantly, the backdrop is Salvation Mountain, one of the great North American architectural / landscape-based works of outsider art.

3. My girlfriend is flying across hundreds of miles on an airplane just to come visit me and that's pretty wonderful! (Alicia, I do have the kind of nail clippers with a fold-out file, as it happens.)

4. I am still only on episode 9, season 2 of Twin Peaks, but MY MIND IS BEING BLOWN. I love all the ridiculous, unexpected plot twists that've been packed into the last couple of episodes. (I'm not a fan of this season's subplot with Leo, Shelley, and Bobby, but fortunately it hasn't been given that much screentime.)  I've found I actually like being surprised by this show (even when it makes almost no sense), so (Alicia and Hilary) while I would love to discuss it, be careful not to accidentally give away anything I haven't seen yet!
