Random question, when you toothpick something like a cake, how can you tell whether it's still underdone or not? My mother used to make it sound like the toothpick had to come out sparkling clean or else ZOMG IT'S STILL RAW AND YOU WILL KILL US ALL, but that never, ever happens as far as I can tell.
