Chestnut Farms - Open House

In early June, Brian and I drove 2 hours west of Boston to go visit Chestnut Farms for their open house. After a day spent wandering around the farm, I was satisfied that the cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens got to enjoy a pretty good life right up until they headed off to the slaughterhouse. yeah, I'm still always astounded that sheep say "baah!" clear as day.

A friend of mind has chickens, and she keeps them in a kids playhouse, modified, with a big fence around it. A bus sounds very amusing.

The cows were probably shying away from you because they were afraid you were going to eat them.

Even more pig trivia: the average boar ejaculate volume is 300 mL (that's about 1 1/4 cups) and the ejaculation lasts 5-8 minutes.

I want to own a farm. I love the sounds, the smells, all of it! For now, I have to settle for chickens and veggie gardens. Thanks for the tour. Love it!
