SF EVA

Showed off two of my bikes at the SF Eva meeting this past Saturday. Office chair seat was a big hit. Couple of bikes were faster, one sexier, all more expensive.

The theme of the meeting was bikes. Two vendors and two other hobbyists attended. Notable personalities were Marc Geller and Sherry Boschert, who kindly held the kick stand less office chair bike up.

Presentations were followed by test drives. Tidal force 750 bike was the fastest by far. Morita commuter bike was next, then office chair. Cheapest was Chinese chopper $329, heavy and the brakes sucked. Great news that I can build an ebike with brakes that suck for $180 less.

Tom of woodenbikes.com called me today. Good guy and interesting chat, gave me many things to follow up on.

Tried to finish my second serial hybrid for Saturday but too many obstacles. Working to finish feverishly now. Problems from Saturday still unresolved but shiny new yellow paint job inspires hope. Garage smells like paint huffer's wet dream.

Bad news, California air resources board shut down any hope for a beefed up zero emissions vehicle mandate this past Wednesday; in fact, new requirement is less than after the emasculation of the mandate in 2003 (documented in who killed the electric car). One positive note: ridiculous disparity between hydrogen vehicles and non vaporware like EVs and hybrids reduced. New mandate has no real effect until 2013. Our Govna is still smoking the hydrogen highway pipe. Ill see you at the par-teeh richta!
