Came back on Monday from Columbus. Sean, from all the way in Ethiopia, pointed out that the blackberry software changed Columbus to Columbia in my last post. So for those of you who may have wondered if I was looking for a $6000 per pound rendevouz with Juan valdez coffee distributors, you are out of luck. The only coffee I had was on the house, at cafe apropos in Columbus.
It was great to see chavi, Anton, and my cousin Karl and his now fiancee azure. In addition we met Steve and his lady Catherine in new Hampshire.
The motivation for this trip, besides good company, were $10 promotional tickets from skybus, a new airline out of columbus, that we snagged earlier this year. We flew to columbus and stayed there for 2 days, the on to new Hampshire, were we slept at steve's. On to rhode island then to hang with my cousin, who took us to a local restaurant and then windsurfing the next day. Then we traveled on to Boston for the 3rd sloshwalk. Boston was great as usual. I'd had a bit much wine the first night so I offered to be the dd. It was a bit amusing chaperoning your tipat buddies. Anton made a hilarious video with his handycam from assorted antics and surreptitious lone interviews with each of us and strangers.
After flying back to Ohio we went to a lake and napped, then listened to some bands at columbus' oktoberfest. The most amusing band was the venues, a cover band with a frontman who changed between various drag outfits during songs using an onstage changing room.
Thanks to everyone who took us in, we really appreciate it!
Next up is a trip to columbus and Indianapolis for thanksgiving to visit another cousin. Then hopefully Japan for new years!
