Here is a picture of the cake that I entered in the edible book contest today...
Can you tell the title of the book? The mini cakes are purple in color, and the cake flavor under the fondant is grape. And they're ANGRY--way beyond pissed off--grapes.
Yup. It's the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
This was the first time I've ever used fondant, and considering the fact that spheres are the hardest shape to cover smoothly, I think it came out pretty good.
And so did everyone else. I won first place in the People's choice award (attendees voted for their favorite), and I also won Best in Show! Which means that I got the e-book reader! WOO HOO! I was saying that with the new pans and other supplies I purchased for the contest, I could have bought a e-reader for myself.
But then I would have missed out on the fame. And I LIKE fame! LOL!
