"Broken Holmes" - a play by Robin Johnson

(Cross-posting this to 221b, because everyone should see this!)

Quoting from their website brokenholmes.co.uk/:

"Sherlock Holmes investigates a duke's murder. But the real mystery is, why does an intelligent, sensitive soul like Watson stay in a relationship with an abusive, egotistical drug-addict?

Find out what's really going on under the deerstalker in this darkly comic examination of one of fiction's most outwardly respectable characters. Featuring a puppet snake."

"The cast and crew of Broken Holmes extend our thoughts and sympathies to all those hurt by the Guy Ritchie film."

Haha... thanks in advance, guys. Maybe I'll need them :).

I so very much want to see this! I missed the first run in Edinburgh this summer, but now the play returns for the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2010.
Reviews of the play were very enthusiastic, and I LOVE the 10 minute snippet on youtube (bad quality, but great, funny, quite "fannish" dialogue):

Finally, this review convinced me.

I also like these pics:

It seems to be silly, but kind of melancholy underneath, a combination which I love (and which fits Holmes very well in my mind). Also, the author seems to be a committed fan :).

Unfortunately, I live in Vienna, but I seriously consider flying over just for this (and a short trip to London).
