After reading the fantastic comments about the Sherlock pilot over at sherlockbbc, I really can't wait for my DVD to arrive :). Amazon says it's already dispatched...
I know I know! People keep telling me how great he was (many prefer him to Tennant, apparently), but I think I started the wrong way round and he is just too... macho? I love the fairy-tale-like quality of the Smith stories, or the sheer fun, energy and emotionality of Tennant-Doc - please don't hate me, but Eccleston seems so boring!
He's not macho, he's violent, because before Rose he hadn't met anyone who could make him smile and laugh and his burden was huge (although you don't know that to full extent until Tennant finishes his turn.) Promise me at least to watch "Dalek" because it's worth it.
I'm starting to see what you mean - Dalek was excellent, and Eccleston is certainly starting to grow on me :). Maybe it was just the first 2 Eps I didn't like? Be that as it may, I'm one for the childlike enthusiasm of Tennant and Smith (and some of the old Who doctors, I guess - haven't seen a whole Episode yet), but I get your point about the Time War...
Oh, the first two episodes aren't good, especially "The Unqiet Dead" with the woman who later becomes Gwen Cooper. But there are really good episodes. There's even one with Simon Pegg.
