[Although seasons don't entirely exist in the Nexus, it seems autumn has found its way to the Nexus park.]

[Mei Ling wanders into the park, staring at the picturesque scenery with some awe.]

"Nature without an effort surpasses art."

[Hi Mei Ling. Don't mind this Fox sitting up on a tree branch right above you.]

Poetic.

[Her head snaps up quickly to catch sight of who that voice was coming from.]

...Mr. Fox? What are you doing up there?

[Fox turns his head in order to cast his gaze over the rest of the park.]

Enjoying the view.

[She gives him a small smile before gazing around once more at the scenery. This is the sort of thing that could lift her spirits after too long stuck in the Nexus, with it's sterile, artificial feel. At least if this wasn't real, it seemed it.]

It's beautiful. Seeing it up there must be great.

[She looks back up- looks like the branches are too high for her to reach.]

You're welcome to join me. This tree is plenty big enough.

I, uh...

[She frowns at the too-high branch, though she doesn't want to admit she can't reach. What sort of captain would that make her?]

That's all right. I'll just look from here.

Suit yourself.

[He can tell the branch is too high for her to reach. He's simply going to wait until she decides to be less stubborn and asks him for a hand.]

[She leans her back against the trunk, staring at what she can see of the pumpkin patch from this height.]

So, Mr. Fox... do you climb trees often?

Not as often as I used to. Perhaps I should get back into the habit.

What about you, Miss Mei Ling? Climb any in your youth?

No, not many. Climbing trees were scarce where I grew up.

[She glances back up, frowning. It would be really nice to see the room from that vantage point.]

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever...

[She mutters before stepping to the side.] Mind giving me a hand up?

[Fox hooks his legs together around the branch and leans over, offering a hand down to her.]

You'll have to jump a bit but I should be able to hoist you up without any difficulties.

Okay...

[She's a bit nervous about him lifting her up like that, but he is Fox.]

[So, with a small roll of her shoulders, she jumps and grabs at his hand.]

[She's lighter than he expected. It's almost effortless for him to pull her up onto the branch. The physical contact feels a bit awkward but he does his best to ignore it.]

[She feels much better once she's settled safely on the branch, and immediately feels pleased with her decision. The park looks incredible from here, the colors illustrating a scene even more beautiful than she'd thought.]

Wow... takes your breath away, doesn't it?

[She gives him a small smile.]

I suppose so. I've been a fan of high places; they make for a good vantage point, enable one to remain camouflaged with a bit of effort... And even in situations like this, make one feel a bit humbled by the world around us.
