[White Day was a particularly interesting holiday that was mostly celebrated in Japan. It was traditionally a time that enabled men to confess their love to women. Japan wanted to outweight the balance of Valentines, so that men had a day to confess their love, too

[Hey! It's Sunny! Otacon smiiiiles~]

You know what that holiday is? -- Actually, that doesn't surprise me. [Her thoughts went to Hal, and she smiled again.]

Did you get any Valentines this year?

...No. None this year.

Oh! But why not?

[Halie frowned a little, before a soft blush touched her cheeks.] You're a really nice person, and ... you're really pretty. Surely people can see that.

[newsavegrl]

[The usually very pale girl colors a bit at that] W- wow, thank you.

[Sighing] ...I had a c- couple of boyfriends before. Didn't last long with either one.

[A sheepish smile] 'Guess I'm a little too weird for some people. A lot of it is probably my fault...

[She really saw a lot of herself in Sunny. She pitied her, and it made her a little sad to have knowledge that she felt she was the problem.]

No, you're not weird at all. I think that your confidence is low, that's all.

[Halie hands her a flower, and some chocolate. She grinned sheepishly.] Well here. A belated valentine for you, Sunny.

[Sunny brightens a bit at the sight of the flower. She takes it with a smile, also grabbing the chocolate. It was a small gesture, sure- But greatly appreciated. It meant a lot to Sunny, and so she reached over and embraced Halie in a light hug.]

[And of course, that embrace was returned. Halie felt her heart lift just slightly, and she smiled warmly.]

If there's anything I can do for you, you just let me know. I may not be the same Otacon as you're used to, but we all have the same morals and principles. We all like to help out where we can.

[newsavegrl]

[She pulls away from the hug, smiling] Okay.

And... I'll be here if you ever need me, too. [Sunny smiles and takes a bite of one of her chocolates.]

I'm glad to hear that.

I'm actually excited at the prospect of getting to know you. [She pushed her glasses nervously.]

Oh, right... I guess there's a lot you don't know yet.

I wonder if I'll be a boy when you meet me in your reality... [Laughs a bit] Good thing I have a pretty epicene name.

So... Is there anything you'd like to know right now? I could answer a few questions. Hopefully I wont create some kind of weird Time Paradox in doing so...

I'm guessing that you might be. I've not even gone on the mission where I meet you, yet, so I have no way or knowing. Everyone else in my time has changed gender here, so... it seems possible.

[She smiled at the laugh, and relaxed a little more.] Um... let's see... [Ponders.] Do you know anything around the mission where Snake and I save you? I'd like to know, in advance.

[newsavegrl]

Well, there's the mission where you meet my mom.... or maybe it'll be my dad... Uh, I'm not sure.

[She looks distant for a moment] I doubt there's anything that can be done to prevent her death.

...Y- you don't have to worry about the actual saving bit, though. Raiden will take care of that, and then he- or she- will put me in your care. I was really young when all of that happened, though...

[Halie tried her best to strum through her mind just who 'Raiden' was, or might be in the future. She found herself nodding, regardless. It made sense, she supposed, but part of her wondered why it wasn't Snake that had gone to save her.]

[Then again, Snake and 'children' didn't exactly go hand in hand in her mind.]

So this Raiden guy saved you, and then left you with Hal and Snake. ..

... What are we like, as ah... um... parents?

I guess you could say that the 3 of us had a lot in common. None of us really knew what it was like to grow up with a "normal" family, so... As you'd expect, we were kinda dysfunctional.

But... you tried..?

[A sad smile creeps onto Halie's lips.]

I can understand that. I'm just sorry that I couldn't have done anything better for you. Snake probably wasn't much better either.
