[Wordlessly, Liquid stepped back over to Otacon's side and pulled him into a tight hug.]

[He might just have noticed Liquid's arms shaking.]

[He tightened his hold on Otacon, as if to be sure that he could protect at least one of them.]

I don't think he was one I knew, but it's nearly impossible to be sure--and that doesn't excuse this by any means.
