dictionary.com is my new best friend

I have devised a way to make studying GRE vocab seem...enticing. I'm not sure how long this method will remain effective (read: how long it will remain entertaining and novel) and I can never allow my study notes to fall into the hands of, well, anyone, but hey, as long as it works... :Db ( Read more... )

Dictionary.com has that word-of-a-day thing, which I got into for a while, then forgot. XD;;

For me, I almost never look up words... *relies on context clues and sort of GUESS what the word means* I fail as a good student. XD;;;;

Question: Hm... have you always lived in Canada? *fails at questions* Or where are your parents from?

And I don't think I want to sleep on a $159.99 pillow. O.O;;

I've subscribed to that, but the words just go in, er, one eye and out the other. XD; Normally, I would rely on the context as well (I used to go through phases when I was younger: I would be all diligent and write down every word that I didn't know one day and refuse to look up unknown words the next XD I was stuck on the latter phase until recently), but I figure I may as well use my favourite pastime, reading, as a way to improve my vocab seeing as how I only have a little over a month to prepare for the GREs. X3;;;;

I was born in China, then moved to the States for almost two years, and then came to Canada -- I've been living in Canada for about...thirteen years now. :)

Maybe it's super luxurious! ...well, I wouldn't pay that much for a pillow unless it comes with really super-duper dreams every night. XD

Best of luck with that and everything! I normally don't retain vocabulary well unless I use them a lot.... I suppose it's the same with Japanese too. ^^ [/random]

Reallyyyyy. *didn't know that* That's so cool. ^______^ When did you first move to the States?

If only... I want one too!

I moved to the States when I was five-and-a-half. You were born in the States, right? I remember you mentioning you lived somewhere colder than California before, though. With snow!

Hai~! I was born in Chicago! Close enough to Canada to drive up to see Niagara Falls. ^______^ I lived there for 14.5 years then moved here to CA. *hee*
