YJ!

For a long time, I was mourning the lack of Cissie King-Jones in the series; I think she was intended to be in there at the beginning, but they went with Artemis instead. However, with each episode, I find myself liking Artemis more and more. She's flawed. She squabbles with Wally like nothing else. And yet... she's also the voice of snarky reason and ego-deflation.

I wondered at the beginning if it was The Reach showing up with the ship design and all, but the episode's overall explanation was ... less than satisfying. I know it's a set-up for future developments where M'gann is concerned, but the "IT WAS ALL A DREAM" explanation is just so annoying. It renders all what happened moot, it feels like.

That said, I suppose some of the realizations that occurred while in the "training exercise" could spill over into the next few episodes. Wally's never been good at realizing what he thinks of people unless it's shoved in his face, and it pretty much was there. Robin's cool-headed manipulation was something we don't usually see in the jester-personality he displays day-to-day. Superboy's emotional issues we see plenty of, but in a crisis situation -- even with the subconscious realization that it wasn't real -- he manages better.

That said, given the promo posters for next season, I wonder if it wasn't prophetic in some way on M'gann's part. Jaime is great, but I really don't want to lose Kaldur, and ... yeah. D:
