Made it past Duluth, and am now in the Land of Cheese.
Today's travel was interesting, largely because it heralded the end of the mountains -- I could just see them in the distance when I left the motel this morning, and only a short time later, I lost sight of them. It's been five years since spent any length of time in a non-mountainous area.
I saw several antelope during the drive. One, a large buck, was resting in a harvested grain field. The only reason that I saw him was due to his head, the black markings across his eyes being in sharp contrast with the stubble of the grain. The others were at a further distance, but they are such pretty animals.
I also think there was a locust swarm at some point in North Dakota. Not an overly large one, but there were insect carcasses strewn across highway 2 that crunched unpleasantly to drive over.
