Summary: Hyukjae enters college, hoping to start off fresh and new, but his plans are ruined because of his dorm mate, Lee Donghae.
Donghae yawns. Why was this class so boring? He copies down the professor’s notes sloppily and watches as she demonstrates how to do a certain experiment. It doesn’t amuse him at all, however.
“The chemical reaction might not happen immediately,” she explains as she pours some kind of purple fluid into a test tube. “You have to be patient and wait.”
Donghae almost scoffs at her statement. What has patience ever done to him? It was his third year in this stupid university now, and Hyukjae still hasn’t returned his feelings. The brunette was starting to give up. He promised he’d wait, though, so Donghae tried his hardest to stay strong.
“Your patience will pay off, though,” the professor adds. “If you wait long enough, then…”
The fluid starts foaming at a rapid pace and begins to get on her gloves. Donghae is suddenly amazed at the pretty light purple bubbles. He quickly adds something important to his notes: “Patience pays off.”
When Hyukjae returned to the dorms after a long day of lectures, he was surprised to see Donghae sleeping on the bed. He’s never back this early. Hyukjae shrugs his shoulders and just stands there, staring at the brunette with his eyes closed. The red head wonders what Donghae is dreaming about and then he thinks about how cute he looks while he’s sleeping and-wait. What?!
Hyukjae shakes his head back and forth to remove the thoughts from his mind. He takes a quick shower and comes back out. Donghae is currently munching on a bag of chips.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you up?” Hyukjae asks.
“Nope, Kyuhyun did,” Donghae replies. “He’s coming in a few minutes to visit me!”
Hyukjae smiles, but he doesn’t know why. He had never seen Kyuhyun before; maybe he was just excited to see him.
“I’ll be back before seven though.”
After he finishes speaking, there’s a knock on the door. “Oh great, he’s here!” Donghae jumps off the bed and races to the door, opening it and giving his friend the biggest bear hug that Hyukjae had ever seen. There’s a sudden feeling at the gut of Hyukjae’s stomach that makes him feel sick (not the barf kind of sick). He’s pretty sure it’s not rage, but it couldn’t be jealousy, could it?
Hyukjae was in denial.
“Bye, Hyuk,” Donghae waves and closes the door, leaving Hyukjae alone.
Why was he making such a big deal about this now?
It gets worse when Donghae comes back at exactly seven with a to-go box of teriyaki chicken. He gives it to Hyukjae, who immediately takes it and thanks him.
“What did you guys do today?”
“We went to the movies! The movie was so romantic!” Donghae claps his hands and Hyukjae notices that weird feeling coming back.
“We went to go eat, together too! It was fun,” the brunette continues, and Hyukjae’s fist tightens around the to-go box until he pokes a hole through it.
“Whoa, Hyukjae,” Donghae yanks the box from him and sets it on the table at the corner. “Don’t ruin your dinner!”
Donghae is suddenly suspicious of Hyukjae’s reasons for almost destroying the food, but chooses not to question the red head. His answer becomes clear that night though, because just as they are about to fall asleep, Hyukjae speaks up.
“Since tomorrow is Saturday, you can spend it with me, right?”
Donghae laughs and agrees.
-
“Stop pushing me!” Hyukjae shouts, losing balance on the ice again. He falls and Donghae laughs at him. Frustrated, he pulls the brunette down until he collapses, too.
Hyukjae struggles to get himself back up, his skates wobbling uncontrollably until he falls again. Donghae manages to get up, laughing at the red head again before helping him up. Once Hyukjae is properly standing, he shoves Donghae and they repeat this over and over, receiving strange stares from the other ice skaters.
That is when Hyukjae thinks that maybe he does have a tiny bit of feelings for Donghae. Just a tiny bit…
A/N: I know how short and boring this is. I also know that I'm running through time super fast in this story! But I promise the last chapter will be a lot better, even though it's going to focus on the last year. Hang in there, okay? ^^ Thank you for the support! :D AND ON THE OTHER HAND, HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY TO THE GREATEST GROUP ON THE PLANET! We all know who that is. :)
