Let me introduce to you the greater side of my hobby. If you're someone not very familiar with this hobby then when someone mentions to you that they have a fish tank at home, the first thing that may spring to mind is the common goldfish or perhaps a 'nemo' fish even. However this just skims the surface of my fish keeping hobby. What I have currently been obssessed with is called aquascaping.
Aquascaping is the art of turning something like this:
into something like this
It is an interest which I would classify as an art because it involves a touch of creativity. This interest has been produced all over the world and for so many reasons such as mimicking the natural habitats of aquatic life or simply for eye to feast upon after an arduous day. This art therefore goes beyond just taking care of fish, it accounts for the need of plants, fish and water quality.
My background -
My very first fish tank was bought for me about 8-9 years ago and with the little experience and knowledge I had the hobby did not last very long and ended shortly. Reason being: GOLDFISH ARE BORING
Then roughly a few years later I restarted this hobby with just as little experience as my first attempt, I kept a variety of fish and after a few months of enjoyable fish keeping with some fish loss came a bad experience of water change which killed my entire tank. It was so mortifying that I cried and said to myself I would never do it again...
Now roughly 4 years later, I have reignited my fire for this hobby. I began with some oscar fish and dither fish, then with a catalyst being some fish loss, I decided to do some research to fix my mistakes, find out what needed to be done and to this day I have gotten it done correctly but no longer keep oscars. Instead I am now into aquascaping.
