Boston

Two pints of Samuel Adams sit on my table at a Boston bar on Yawkey Way, nestled right up next to a park they call Fenway.

Last July 14  I wrote about my spur of the moment decision at Love's Internet Cafe in DC to take a three day trip to Boston with my friend Nick White.  Then on July 19 I wrote all about my train ride back from Bean Town.  But I never posted any pictures or stories about the trip itself.  Well, now that Nick has emailed me some pictures of our trip, I'd like to share them.

Nick and I most definitely picked the right weekend to go to Boston, because the Yankees were in town.  There is no better sports rivalry than Sox/Yankees, and Nick and I got a taste of it firsthand.  While we didn't get inside Fenway to see any games, we got damn close.  We watched a Sunday afternoon game from a bar adjacent to the Green Monster (the right field wall).  We were so close to the action, that after every clutch hit, or third strike to end an inning, we could feel the bar shake from the commotion being made next door.  While the defending champs ended up losing to the loathsome Yankees, I had an amazing time drinking pint after pint of Boston Lager and rooting for the home team.

Nick and I waiting for the T.  While I'm thinking about it, here's a list of all of the major metropolitan rapid transit systems I've ridden: BART (Bay Area), MARTA (Atlanta), Metro (DC), the London Underground, and of course, the T. (2007 Edit: Santiago, Chile Metro and Buenos Aires Metro too!)

Me kissing ass (too easy) in front of the old City Hall building, one of the many landmarks on the historic "Freedom Trail."
