The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see...

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

From Francis Church's response to Virgina O' Hanlon's letter, 1897.

This letter confirms a lot for me, and it's vitally important now, as ever to my life, and I know to some of yours, even if you aren't necessarily of any religious persuasions. I hope that it inspires some of you as well.

Happy Christmas, those who celebrate it. Blessed Yule, a few days late, and happy various other holidays that those of you on my flist choose to celebrate or not celebrate as the choice may be. I love you all dearly and I will post a list of things I've been given later, from the Vera Bradley fest my godparents provided last night to the amazing gifts that Jabba has managed to redeem himself by coming up with for me. I'm really touched by how THOUGHTFUL all of the gifts I've been given this year are. Everyone has taken the time to follow my interests and hobbies and to come up with something that I really love, or that will allow me to obtain something for myself from places that I really love.

My gifts to my mom and Jabba were also so far hits. The highlight was probably the rolls of toilet paper joke present I wrapped for him, though he had real presents from me too. It's just that he uses so much of it that it felt appropriate somehow. And immature, but funny. Now to prepare for tomorrow morning at the little house that insanity built and a day spent with Lord Vader, the stepmother, Alvin and Theodore. Fun times? Maybe. The turtles are slated to get a new home if my dad followed the list he asked for, so I'm excited about that one. They really need it and I couldn't have afforded to upgrade myself. As to the rest...we shall see...
