(no subject)
Alright boys and girls, I'm running a little late with this but HERE GOES NOTHING.
I've been seein' here and there for a long while artists doin' a thing where they draw something every day for a month. Most recently and importantly, my buddy sfemonster decided to do something called Doodle A Day: do a little sketch of something every day for the whole month of June. It is a pretty neat idea! Then drunken_satyr started doing it, and I cannot help but jump on the ol' bandwagon sometimes.
SO HERE'S THE DEAL: I'M DOIN' DOODLE A DAY TOO. So every day for the whole month of June, I'll be posting a sketch here on my LJ, pubicly posted and no friendslocks to be seen! I used to do NOTHING BUT sketch and doodle all the live long day, but in the past year or so my output's dropped drastically. Considering I used to live an' breath this sort of thing, it's a bit of a shame. Remember all the sketchjournals and posts on dA there used to be? Hell, doing stuff with a pencil for more than a few minutes makes my hand hurt it's so out of practice, it's embarrasing. I need to get back in pencil sketching shape, you want to see free art, WE ALL WIN. There'll be all sorts of little nuggets of information you won't see anywhere else!
I know we're a few days into June already, so I've done three sketches to make up for it! I know I know it's technically the 4th already but I drew all three on the 3rd and IT'S NOT OFFICIALLY THE NEXT DAY YET UNTIL I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING.

It's your friend and mine, Sal Burken of The Aether! Aw, Sal, I haven't drawn you in forever, you are still one of my favorites. I kinda liked the original blue sketch better but I'm still happy with how this came out. Sal is on my list of Characters I Could Draw Forever.
Speaking of The Aether, here's another character from it! My friends have been drawing manticore-y characters lately, and it reminded me of him. Man I've only ever drawn him once before and he doesn't even have a name yet, how lame. He is a manticore! His name is probably something Persian! He is one of the star attractions of Reginald Quickly's Odditorium, the zoo/circus run by Evander's old friend Reg. He made a deal with Reg and promised to behave and not eat anybody if he could join them on their trek through the stars. His front paws have creepy super-long toes that are supposed to mimic human fingers & thumbs. I really need to name him. He plays cards with Addison the buggane and various other circus employees.
Oh man, blast from the past, y'all. Marv The Gecko and Grego the demon! These guys are ancient, I literally came up with them in middle school and freshman year of high school. Way back when there was a period where mostly all I drew were very goofy & cutesy cartoon animals, all with big round Garfield-esque eyes. This is also when I started drawing floating eyebrows like what you see with Dave! Marv has found new life as a popular cartoon character in the Team D.U.D.E-iverse, though I dunno what to do with Grego. He may make a cameo at some point, maybe not. There was a period where I had huge exciting plans to do a platform/adventure video game starring him, called Grego's Gauntlet. Who knows, maybe it'll happen someday.
