It's October already?!?!
Geez it’s been forever since I’ve blogged. School is great. It’s kicking my ass but in a masochistic way I’m loving it. Let me tell you all about the last few weeks..
1. I was chosen as one of the representatives for our OT class. I’m honored and on Thursday we meet with the Dean.
2. I figured out that having my pre-req classes like 6 years ago really sucks!!
3. Belmont University is hosting the presidential debate tonight! The downfall to that is they closed the gym over a week ago.
4. Since Belmont is hosting I’m on Fall break… but I’m not getting much of a break because I’m trying to relearn every muscle, origin, insertion, innervations and function. Oh instead of a week off….we only get 3 days!! Who ever heard of a 3 day Fall Break?
5. Kitty has a cyst on her head and it has continued to grow.. now there is a basal cell tumor on top of the cyst. Scary. It’s possible that it could turn into cancer but the likelihood is pretty low. They suggested we have it removed but it’s going to be 200.00. I don’t know what we’re going to do. I’m kind of in a holding pattern. I’m think we’ll just watch it… she is 13 and a surgery is hard on any cat.
6. Gregory has been sick for weeks with a horrible GI bug. The diagnosis is hafnia alvei. There isn’t a bunch of information on it other than it bad. Poor kid has had to have 3 rocephin shots. Sometime this week he’s going back for another stool sample to see if the bacteria has been killed. Please keep your fingers crossed or say a prayer for him.
7. Greg’s dog was shot but is expected to make a full recovery. He’s now living with my parents.
8. Since the economy is FUCKED and my poor dad who just went into retirement is looking at going back to work. I can’t even begin to tell anyone how much this frustrates and saddens me. How can we let this happen to our elders. My dad is in his mid 70’s there is no reason he should have to work.
9. I ordered a Ralph Nader sticker about opening the debates and it’s still not here. Really useful!
10. Coming home to Pulaski for just a couple of days isn’t so bad. I am actually enjoying it for the most part.
11. This Friday we’re getting an estimate for the cost of fixing our foundation.. next step is our small claims law-suit! I hope we get the maximum judgment 25,000.00. That would be super sweet!
12. I’m soo bummed I’m gonna miss Steve and Elyn’s wedding. It’s this Saturday. I kept waiting and hoping that I’d catch a great flight price… or that gas would go down to .99 and I’d be able to afford to come down. Instead….. the economy crashed and prices went up. BOOO.. At least I saved enough money to send a little gift.
13. Middle TN electric has upped our electric bill by 20% as of Oct 1. How the hell are we supposed to deal with that? So… we haven’t had the ac on in over a week. Luckily the weather has been pretty nice… it’s kind of weird.. I feel like I’m camping.
14. I’ve been looking ahead at jobs and have been seriously considering joining the military after I graduate. The pay is pretty good and I think it would be awesome to be able to give something back to my country. The scary part is there is a possibility of deployment.. which is not okay for or with me.. Moving to different countries… fine… being in a war zone. No thank you.
15. I am really excited about our 5th anniversary coming up on the 17th. Yay for still being in love after 5 years of marriage.
16. I’ve been seriously debating on if I should go on a mission trip to Guatemala. The price is 1500.00 and I feel like it’s an educational opportunity of a lifetime.. but after doing some research online it seems like a really scary place. I just don’t know if going to a country and specifically a city that has a violent history and doing a mission trip when I don’t speak the language is the best thing for me to do. For 1500.00 I could do a whole lot of good here in Middle Tennessee… or if I wanted to be greedy 1500.00 could get me to Europe and back. ;)
17. Piggly Wiggly is going out of business here in Pulaski.. and so everything was 50% off… now we have lots of random groceries.. but none of which are really super useful. Sometimes I just can’t say no when things are 50% off…. I mean who the hell buys sprinkles?!?
