To add to this already oddly verbose day, there are new developments with the car situation. First, I got the paperwork with Gypsy's final estimated totaled value and instructions on how to transfer the title... the title. Right. I was pretty certain that I had the title somewhere, but to its actual location would require a little bit of detective work.
I rolled a natural 20 for it and found it in the first place I looked. The adjuster's instructions were vague so I gave him a call the next day to make sure that I get it done right in one go. That's where he said something about a lien release card. Hmm... Yeah, it did touch off a memory hidden deep in the long recall. He said that I needed to include that card when I send in the title. Alright...
So I set out on another archaeological dig through documents long since shelved out of sight. If memory served, the card was small and therefore easily mistaken for something that needed to be chucked. Aha! Here it is. Not the hit out of the park like my title search, but I was on a hot trail from the get go. I tell you, for something that I barely remember occurring over a year ago, my ability to produce that document so quickly gave me a great deal of satisfaction... even though I should probably organize all these things a little more centrally from now on.
With the title signed and mailed, Gypsy no longer belongs to me... but rather to the cruel vultures who will inevitably catabolise her for parts.
Later this morning, my dealer called me to say that my car had arrived. Mind you, it isn't completely ready for pick up because I've ordered some of the things that will help it weather long ownership better. But it is here. Depending on when the final work is done, I could be driving by Monday. After work, I plan to stop by and slog through the paperwork so that when I actually do pick it up, it will be a quick process.
Needless to say, the anticipation is now mounting.
