It has been a while since my last post and I've debated on trying to do a sort of wrap up dealie or just do one of those time shift things like they did to cap off the last season of Battlestar Galactica. So, just try to imagine me with an eyepatch now, or a beard with twenty extra pounds, or now a father and we'll get cracking on this next post.
First, I just want to say that I am weak. I am not one to preorder games because it just seems too much like playing the futures market. However, considering how much I enjoyed the first installment of Guitar Hero (so much so that I bought a PS2 to play it), I plunked down the ready cash for the sequel slated to come out in November. Since they evolved the cooperative play, I even went in for a second controller. Needless to say, this fish's happiness is approaching clam level.
The only thing that might dampen the mood is hearing that
MTV has purchased the company that makes the game. I am hoping such a thing does not cause the franchise to jump the shark. It is easy to mess up a simple gaming concept when you start injecting too much marketing into it, as large corporations are wont to do. I guess, we will just have to play it by ear.
And to keep with the rock-themed game posting, I have been following some buzz around Rockstar's upcoming release,
Bully. Looks like an interesting role-playing game for the simple fact that it is outside the traditional bounds of the genre. That's probably why the Grand Theft franchise did so well back in the day. It certainly seems like an untapped vein of storytelling goodness to me.
I tell ya, this new console is getting to be an expensive investment.
