Fund raising.
Has anyone got any experience of raising large quantities of money?
It's the one thing that all of these Charity things understandably have in common. I've an idea of what I'd like to do and it's about £2500 required sponsorship before even thinking about my expenditure.
EDIT: Having read more it's £2775, but I'd not pay any transport myself. But it all goes to one Charity.
Or Self funded which is £1495 from me plus anything extra going to charity (£100 guarenteed) but £100 is pittance,
Also not sure which Charity/ies I'd do it for, I'd be tempted to split at least 2 ways, maybe 5. If I can think of ones worthwhile. I'd quite like to direct some of it towards the stuff Tony Rest, who works next to our group, does (takes Chemistry to third world countries and helps them come to grips with experiments.) But I have no idea if it's a registered Charity.
Current ideas for raising money, bar begging and stealing, are 24hr DJing (allowing me a whole range of genres, and potential club/company sponsorship) and possibly a cake stall, which is a bit demanding if just one person is making the cakes!
I suppose I could raffle myself off for a day! got to be at least a pound in that.
Any other experiences or ideas?
