Watch out- once you've been bitten by the bug, it can take over your life. I can entirely believe that. Sadly(?), it would have to fight with ficcing, rec sets-making, podfic-related stuff, writing meta, watching canon, and reading/listening/etc other people's fanworks in order to even eat my fannish life. So yeah.... (I don't have two icon sets currently in progress, no I don't! Um, wait, maybe that's three that I don't have in progress...)
Raaaaar indeed :(
why are there so few moments of Uhura getting to be action girl in TOS? I'm glad you asked! I have a theory! I think it's an awesome theory and one of these days I'll write the fic behind it... But basically it goes something like on some planet which they visited before ST:TOS started, Uhura got bit by some alien insect (or mind-ray'ed or etc) which she's mostly recovered from by the time the show starts, but there's still one lingering effect: occasionally for no apparent reason whatsoever, Uhura (who is very, very badass) will lapse into fainting-damsel mode. The rest of the crew, since they respect Uhura so much, pretend to not notice when this happens (this is why, for example, when Uhura goes all 'oh i am all afrightened' Captain Kirk says nothing). But sadly, some of these relapses of hers happened during the times when the documentary crew were filming ST:TOS episodes.
