I'm feeling proud and happy, so I'm sharing!
Huh, has it really been ten days since I posted here?
Anyway, I'm feeling happy and proud and I want to share! And also to record this for posterity, so that I have a reminder that I can do this!
I just sent my
you_know_thats_right fic off to beta-- yes, I know, the deadline is rather close. But this fic has been kicking my ass. I've started, I don't even know, maybe three or four different versions, spent a bunch of time attempting research (and mostly failed), asked
winkingstar to use her awesome librarian!ninja skills to do the research for me, spent a bunch of time reading that and thinking. All of this catches you up to where I was this morning, when I woke up and said, 'right, this is getting written today, I don't care what it takes.'
And all through the morning I slogged through it. It wasn't going anywhere, I was having trouble finding the words, slog slog slog slog slog. And 'round about tea time I sort of went 'A-ha! Here's the story I'm trying to tell!' (Which, I'll have you know, was different from-- but at least related to-- the story draft that I had been working on earlier in the day.) And then I proceeded to continue to write and write and write. And the story was there and I put it (or at least an approximation of it) onto paper. I'll note that the words still never flowed easily, but I still found them and put them on paper!
And I'm sure still this draft is still rough. But you have no idea how much better it is now than it was this morning. And I did that, I kept working until it was better! Boo-yah, me! I WIN!
ETA: Yes, I use 'still' repeatedly in this but at this point I don't care! :P
