The Mythbusters are dorks and I'm one too! :)

I'm watching the Mythbusters episode where the build team is testing myths from the Star Trek TOS episode with the Gorn ('Arena'). And I've got to say, Tory and Grant are giant ST dorks and this makes me happy! Yay for people owning their geekiness! (Also, I would like to be picky about their decision to call the alien-bamboo bazooka myth 'busted'-- it's alien bamboo! As we know from much of the sci-fi literature, there is a distinct possibility that alien plants have different properties than Earth-analogue plants! Perhaps the alien bamboo plant is more like iron than it is like bamboo, did you think of that?! I personally declare that myth plausible.)

I did love that you can mail a coconut. Yay, mailing random things! (Also funny: Adam saying, 'you realise this means we're going to get lots of coconuts in the mail now, right?')

Also fun: using water's high heat capacity to let you stick your hand really quickly into molten lead. It's that same principle that makes hot lava bounce on sea water and makes it safe to pour small amounts of liquid nitrogen on yourself. (Corollary: it's safer to work without gloves on with liquid nitrogen than it is to have gloves on. Because if you get some down your glove, it can't leave after your skin heat has boiled some off, so it stays there and gives you frostbite. JSYK!)

And now I'm being summoned for wholesome games played 'round the kitchen table. Sadly, I must leave you, my lovely flist, for I am just a social butterfly with such a full schedule of exciting things to do! :)
