OH MY GOD! *cries* That ending, guh! Sweetest ending EVER! And I got my Jerry/Blond British Girl interaction back! (damned if I can ever remember her name. Jeez, she's been on there almost an entire season and I still can't remember it). But the Alan/Denny, GAH! ALAN MADE ME CRY!
This started off looking like it was going to be pretty mediocre, Alan was absent for the first 15 minutes, and once he did show up he and Denny weren't sharing any scenes together, the atomic bomb case just felt like filler and wasn't all that entertaining... but then Jerry and his woman troubles showed up. JERRY! IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG SINCE YOU'VE HAD THE B-STORY! I love my Jerry. I especially love him with Blond British Girl, because she's the only one who is able to get to the real Jerry. His ticks and whatnot have no affect on her, and she refuses to let him use them as a crutch, and he never gets offended, because he knows that's never her intent. Gah, I love them!!! They need to stop being so adorable, because I really don't need another ship, and they obviously will never get together (especially if Jerry is able to keep the absolutely gorgeous woman who he's fallen in love with). Can I just give a whoop for Jerry? WHOOP! It's about time he gets some lovin' from a non-crazy person, and someone who likes him simply for being his sweet, adorable, vulnerable self.
Denny. I thought he'd be offended that Shirley wanted Alan to try the case and not him, but oddly, he handled it really well. In fact, he didn't protest at all, which shocked me. Maybe because it's Alan? Or maybe he didn't want to tread into Alzheimer's territory because it would be hard for him to handle? I don't know, but for some reason he just let Alan and Shirley take care of it, didn't interfere at all. That was very un-Denny-ish.
Alan. Oh, my sweet, sweet Alan with his beautiful closing. I figured that it would just all tie together in the balcony scene and we'd have a loving moment between Denny and Alan, so I was surprised when Alan just got so passionate and then he had to stop himself from crying and started talking about Denny. SO BEAUTIFUL! So full of love and admiration... and pain. :'( Alan doesn't express his feelings too often, in fact, his closings tend to be the times that we see Alan at his most vulnerable, and this is the first time that we've gotten a glimpse of just how deep his feelings for Denny run. James Spader knocked this one out of the park, I can't even think of a way to describe all the emotion pouring out of him that could do him justice. It was so honest and absolutely heart wrenching. And Alan finally said that he loved Denny! He actually spoke the words!!! Granted, it wasn't to Denny, but Denny heard it anyway since he was in the back of the courtroom. But what's so beautiful about Denny in regards to Alan is that he knows how Alan feels. He doesn't have to hear it, it's just something he knows. But he also knows that Alan needs to hear it, so he tells him quite often how much he loves him. Anyway, the look on Denny's face was pretty heartbreaking. Actually knowing his fate, seeing into his future, it scares the crap out of him, but he's finally starting to accept it. And the fact that he has Alan by his side makes him not so scared. The balcony moment, guh! *cries* So perfectly beautiful. It hurts Alan to think of a world without Denny. :'( I love that Denny just wants to go to Oregon with Alan during his last days on this earth and catch a fish. Just him and Alan. OMG! SO BEAUTIFUL! AND THE HAND HOLDING! DO THEY NEED TO MAKE ME CRY LIKE THAT? GAH!!!
So... yeah, the heart wrenching beautifulness of Alan/Denny turned an otherwise mediocre ep into an incredible one. ♥
