Guess what I found on my Best of Colbert DVD?

Hee.  See my new icon?  And that, ladies, is why I was in such desperate need of this pic.  I am such a dork.  ETA: Bugger, for some reason my new layout is cutting off part of the pic.  Here's the link.

Anyway, that DVD was awesome.  3 HOURS OF COLBERT!!!  My one complaint?  There was no Korean music video.  How can they release a best of Colbert DVD and not put his music video on there?  What the hell?  I would much rather have gotten that than the whole uncomfortableness of Jane Fonda violating Stephen. *shudder*  I still feel his awkwardness every time I see that interview.  Poor guy couldn't even manage to stay in character.  But... she does reveal that he has soft lips, so...  But seriously, could have done without Jane Fonda.  My favorite bit was most definitely his interview with the Washington DC congress woman during his Better Know a District segment.  So freaking hilarious.  Especially when Stephen accused her of being attracted to him.  Hee.

And now for Ugly Betty!  It wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.  In fact, it wasn't bad at all.  Even though there was barely any Daniel/Betty interaction (which I was expecting since last week's episode was chalk full of D/B-ness), the one moment that we got was absolutely beautiful and it made squee almost as loud as I did last week.  And something very very very very good happened that was non D/B related, but that's under the cut.

OMG, Claire is free!  She's free!!!!  YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so happy this managed to get into the show before they ran out of episodes.  YAY!  It so makes up for the lack of D/B-ness.  The Marc/Amanda stuff was so great in this episode, especially that slap.  Loved it!  I can't believe that Marc is Amanda's conscience the same way that Betty is for Daniel.  That's a bit... surprising.  But I guess we've always known that Marc has a noble heart buried deep down inside of him.  And yay for that little smile of Amanda's as she walked out of the courthouse after doing the right thing.  There's a noble heart there too.  Somewhere.  And Betty/Henry didn't bother me at all in this ep, so that deserves another yay!  And I still adore Gio.  Now onto the good stuff!

I love how Daniel so implicitly trusts Betty.  And how much he leans on her for support.  That first scene where Betty, Daniel, and Alexis were talking to Claire, Daniel kept looking over at Betty for reassurance, and you could just tell that he was so thankful to have her there.  That's what I love about these two.  They don't even need words, just a few glances at each other and a reassuring smile.  Then with the courtroom scene, he thought she was nuts with the perfume, but he put all his hopes into it.  He truly believed that Betty would be his savior... but then she wasn't, and all he was worried about was trying to make her feel better about being wrong.  No anger towards her, no disappointment thrown in her direction, just reassurance that she didn't hurt the case.  Gah, I love it!  And Claire!  Oh Claire.  You can see in her eyes how much she loves Betty, and I can't help but see this as a good sign for Daniel and Betty, and that she might possibly take part in pushing them together in the future.  She adores Betty just as much as Daniel does, which is yet another parallel between Daniel and his mother.  They are so much alike that it's scary.  Anyway, that last scene between Daniel and Betty is what made my heart sing.  That hug, GAH!!!!!  Daniel initiated the contact!!!  I think this is the first time when he has hugged her.  And that look on Betty's face was the same dreamy look she had at the end of the last episode.  OMG!!!!  Also, I love how Daniel's eyes just seek Betty anytime she's in the room with him now.  I've noticed it in the past, but now it's starting to happen more and more frequently.  During Claire's whole speech at the end he kept glancing over at Betty, the second Claire was done he sought out Betty to thank her and he was determined to make her the hero despite whatever she said, and even as he went off to talk to Alexis and Betty had her conversation with Gio, Daniel was watching Betty (especially when Gio and Betty hugged).  Daniel was blurred, but he seemed a bit too prominent to just supposed to be unnoticed.  I keep thinking everything with Gio is somehow foreshadowing something for Daniel/Betty, but I'm probably just crazy.  Anyway, that D/B hug was amazing, and I loved the sweetness of it, the looks shared between them, and how this contrasted with her hug from Gio.

Overall, an entertaining episode, but not the greatest.  It did manage to throw in the squee factor right at the very end, so that saved it from being unmemorable.  Too bad this can't be the last episode, because I have a feeling that I will detest next week's episode.

ship: daniel/betty, love machine: stephen colbert, show: ugly betty is now forgiven
