And now I've seen A Single Man. It... was kind of boring, if I'm honest. Not my favorite Colin film. I think Colin was brilliant, mind you, and I really, really loved the scenes between his character and Jim, and I found the scenes between George and the kid from Skins to be filled to the brim with ridiculously hot chemistry, but the film itself was just kind of weird. I get that it was trying to be dreary in parts and colorful/clear in other parts, and it's trying to realistically depict this grieving dude's last day on Earth, but it really does not make for an entertaining film, I guess is what I'm trying to say. It was pretty to look at, but hard to connect to (except for the George/Jim and George/Kid From Skins scenes). I really didn't like Julianne Moore in this (I'm not usually a fan of hers anyway, so not sure if it was her or the character that I didn't like). The highlight of the film was definitely naked Colin frolicking in the ocean with naked Kid From Skins. Now that was a sight to behold. But yeah, not a film that I'll watch more than a few times, probably, but this is what I expected since that is generally my reaction to most Oscar nominated films. Colin was super amazing in this, though, but I think he was way more enchanting in The King's Speech, which is probably why he's being noticed more for TKS than he was for ASM. Plus, you know, he doesn't have to compete with Jeff Bridges this year (seriously, Crazy Heart was so, so boring. SO boring. And gross. But Colin's role was very low-key compared to Jeff's role, so I guess I can kind of see why Jeff won instead of Colin. BUT COLIN WAS BRILLIANT. Oh well, this will be his year, definitely).
