So, I just finished watching the first two eps of
Marry Me, Mary and I am loving it so freaking much. It's super adorable and hilarious and the chemistry between the leads is pretty amazing. I love how it contains all your typical Korean rom-com cliches, but it's using them in completely different ways. Like, it's clear that the main love story is going to be between Mae Ri and Moo Kyul, and yet the whole marriage contract/forced to live together story is happening between Mae Ri and Jung In. I am definitely interested in seeing where the show goes with this. I find it kind of hilarious though that both of the guys in this drama are prettier than all the girls. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Somehow they make it work, though. I am not typically into girly-looking guys, but Jang Guen Suk already made me fall for him during You're Beautiful, and his character is way more dreamy in this show, so, yeah, I'm digging him. And while I was not moved by Kim Jae Wook during Coffee Prince, I find him quite handsome in this drama (it's amazing what a difference short hair can make!).
Anyway, I've been catching up on the f-list, and I noticed that you all really enjoyed the last ep of Vampire Diaries. I really didn't like it all that much, and I think this is the very first ep of this show that has left me feeling that way. I found Rose to be such a letdown. Seriously, seriously, do we really need a vampire version of a damsel in distress? What the hell was that? Rose is more than 500 years old, clearly she can take care of herself, but the show made her quite wimpy in order to create a pretense for the Rose/Damon hookup, and just... BLERGH. Never has a hookup on this show been so lackluster. And this is Damon we're talking about. The man has never once had a non-hot makeout session/sex scene. It's like the show threw them together just because, and that has NEVER HAPPENED before. Everything on this show usually happens for a reason, so I'm hoping that they do something good with this, but at this point I just find Damon/Rose to be useless. I know that it's an attempt at making Damon move on from Elena, but good god, couldn't they have let it be someone more threatening? Someone who can actually get under Damon's skin? Bleh. Perhaps the show will make Rose more interesting in later eps, but this ep really failed in that department. The Katherine stuff was okay, the Stefan/Caroline scenes were AMAZING, and the Bonnie/Jeremy stuff kind of got me (I didn't think they'd be angsty or unrequited or anything, but look at that! The show totally just piqued my interest in them. It also helped that Jeremy was hotter than ever in this ep). Okay, I guess I just didn't care for the Damon/Rose scenes. But see, if I am not satisfied by the Damon scenes, then something is very, very wrong and I end up not caring for the episode even if everything else was superb.
