I am so tired of arguing with my father about the whole Conan vs Leno thing. No matter what I say, he will answer with, "But Leno's better! Conan doesn't know what he's doing. He's an idiot." LENO IS NOT BETTER. I DON'T CARE IF HIS RATINGS ARE BETTER, HE'S NOT BETTER. He's just mainstream compared to Conan. I get that Conan is weird to a lot

I'm not sure how long it was Letterman beat Jay, but I know Jay had at least over a year until his ratings began to rise. Which is longer then Conan's 7 months in any case. I heard Jay also had a big interview that sparked the ratings change- Hugh Grant, who at the time was involved in controversy.

And I don't know that the young people are really watching Letterman. Some do, but personally I think Letterman's 18-49 demo is closer to the 49 side then the 18 side.

Not that I'd mind if Letterman beats Jay in the ratings after he returns. Maybe I'm bitter but I really want the Tonight Show to tank now.
