The Big Bang Theory
GOOD GOD, WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO WATCH THIS BRILLIANCE? Oooooh, you guys, this show is so freaking hilarious. Don't be like me with letting the annoying laugh track keep you from watching the show, because it's so utterly charming in every way. I can't even think of anything that I don't like. Even the cannon romance doesn't bother me a whole lot (it's a little too typical, but oh well. The show's about nerds, with a mediocre romance on the side, so I can deal with it).
Like most of fandom, I am in mad love with Sheldon. Mad, mad love. And Raj. And Howard. Not so in love with Leonard, but I do like him, so that's good. And I also love Penny. Shipping-wise, I know the cool kids ship Sheldon/Penny, and, well, I can see the appeal, and the more the show goes on the more they make me go "awww," especially when they're being unintentionally couple-ish, but Sheldon is so not into sex that I just don't see the UST there, and they keep saying that Sheldon is his own species, and the only person who's been able to match him in wits is Leslie Winkle, and uh... I ship them, okay? Yes, I ship Sheldon with his arch nemesis. I'm only on episode 5 of season 2 or something like that, and the Sheldon/Leslie-ness is just so there that I am baffled it's not more popular. I'm seriously waiting for them to just start making out in the middle of one of their arguments because they are both turned on by science, not people, and it would probably be the only way that I could imagine Sheldon ever being sexual with anybody. And then he'd be horrified when he realizes what he's doing and he'd run out of the room screaming, and Leslie would have a satisfied/slightly affectionate smile on her face as she says, "Dumbass." IT WOULD BE EPIC. Speaking of Leslie, I love that she is played by Darlene from Roseanne. Darlene/David reunited, woohoo! Not that I ever really loved David (seriously, that poor dude keeps getting stuck with whiny characters), but Darlene rocked my socks, and now she's rocking my socks on Big Bang Theory, and she gets to be Sheldon's arch nemesis while having emotionless sex with Leonard and it is wonderful. I love Leslie Winkle. A lot. Even though she's mean to Sheldon. Poor Sheldon.
Anyway, I am loving this show quite a bit. Raj! He is so adorably gorgeous! Howard! He's so adorably skeevy! SHELDON! HE'S SO ADORABLY AWESOME!
Also, you know how HBO is fond of showing Curb Your Enthusiasm marathons? The other day I got pulled into one, and I found myself laughing my ass off, and... that's never happened before with that show. Apparently I now find it ridiculously funny instead of incredibly stupid? Huh. You learn something new every day.
