buffy_the_vamp6! IT'S LIKE THERE'S TWO OF HIM! I am so tempted to photoshop in between them a pic of me with a horny face and two thumbs up. It would be glorious, no? But I won't, because I can't take a pic of myself without using one of my hands.
Last night I FINALLY started watching the UK version of Life on Mars, and the scripts for the first two eps were almost word for word like the American version, so I was kind of bored (especially since the production value for the American version is SO MUCH better, therefore better action scenes), and I am having monumental trouble understanding the accents, but I'll get used to that. Anywho, once I got to the third ep, it was completely different from the American one, so it peaked my interest. I love the growing relationship between Gene and Sam, and already I'm going, "Dooooh, Gene is so in love with Sam." But, and I know this is blasphemous, but at this point, I still like the American version better. Particularly the storyline about Sam's parents, which so far seems to be the one thing that's different from the UK version (unless I just haven't gotten to the eps about Sam's parents yet? Which is possible, because they keep showing the flash of the woman in the red dress, and that was something that had been a huge buildup in the first half of the season of the American version, but he kept going to see his mom and he saw himself as a kid going to a ballgame with his father, and then he actually had to arrest his father and there was this big storyline there that ended up being one kickass way to go out for the winter break, and none of that has happened in the UK version. But I've only gotten through the first three eps). Also, I watched the first ep of Ashes to Ashes and really loved it, but I stopped because I decided I wanted to have a feel for all the baggage that Gene is carrying from his relationship with Sam. But, let me say this: Gene Hunt is monumentally sexier in the 80s than he was in the 70s. Good lord is he hot. Also, the production value of Ashes to Ashes is much better, so I seemed to have enjoyed it more mostly for that reason. But once I get further into Life on Mars I might change my tune. Anyway, it's just weird seeing such a different Sam and Gene to my Sam and Gene. Harvey Keitel plays Gene in an entirely different way to Philip Glenister despite a lot of the dialog and situations being exactly the same. I love both Genes, and I love that they're so different, so that I can love them both for their own merits. Sam, on the other hand, is a lot more subdued in the American version. He's almost like a child, so vulnerable and adorable, but at the same time he can be kickass when he needs to be, but his love and loyalty to Maya was so endearing, and he so readily accepted Gene as a makeshift father and he already looks up to him so much, whereas in the British version Gene and Sam seem to be more equals than father/son, Sam seems to be angrier in general, and he barely ever mentions Maya. I don't know. I just really love my version (and I think I'm alone in this considering everyone writes off the American version as being crap, but I adore it).
I know I posted this yesterday, but no one answered it, so I'm trying again (I'm a persistent little bugger, am I not?)
