Woooooo! I saw the first ep of this last year and wasn't all that taken. I certainly don't remember any of this gratuitous near nudity! (You have to say - he looks pretty good for 54!) Then the series clashed with something else and I didn't bother to record. :-( Luckily, a friend has come up trumps and has the lot and is sticking it onto a dvd for me. Can't wait to see it now. I'm told there's a brill scene somewhere where Morris shoves his wife against a wall and tells her a few things. GAAAH!!! Can't wait now. And my Buffy dvds are sitting waiting for the hordes to go home tomorrow. I can tell this is going to be such a good fandom year.
I have to admit, the first ep really wasn't that good. It tried to establish the relationships too quickly and the pacing was so uneven and the first half was SO boring, but once they actually got to the plot of the episode it ended up getting better. For the second ep, however, the pacing was perfect and everything was already established and they got the balance between comedy and drama just right, so I'm hoping the rest of the series is like the second episode. Also, I love Anthony Head's character so very much. He's all temperamental and menacing when he wants to be, but he's got such a huge heart that he tries not to show. I love him! And the scenes with his wife are just downright sexy. He's practically purring in all of them. *melts*
Every time I see little speedos like that on a dude my mind screams BANANA IN A HAMMOCK!!! Which sort of ruins the hot for me. :(
But wtf, why is he always so hot when he's drinking something? That wine glass reminds me so much of Uther's chalices. <3
The ones that I slashed IMMEDIATELY were Morris and Hedley, which is no surprise considering I have a propensity to ship Anthony Head with costars that are at least 20 years younger than him.
Oh, don't worry, the speedos were completely played up for laughs, but my pervy self went "OOO, ALMOST NAKED, WOOHOO!" But yeah, "banana hammock" flashing through brains is just an automatic side effect of wearing those things.
And dude, DUDE! THE DRINKING! I kind of want to do a picspam of all of his sexy drinking moments, INCLUDING HIS COFFEE COMMERCIALS! *hides face in shame*
I just finished the series tonight, and oooooh how I loved ep 3! JEALOUS ASH WAS THE SEXIEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE, HOLY CRAP! He was all testosteroney and flummoxed and he was more jealous over Syd finding a woman than he was over his wife and OH GOD IT WAS WONDERFUL!
The last ep, however, I had ridiculous trouble understanding what the heck Syd was saying in his big dramatic moment and it made the ASH tears nonsensical. All I understood was arthritis and I thought, "So that's the end of the world?" I'm pretty sure I missed something important there.
But yeah, the show did have a tendency to lack awesome, but the Head was SO freaking hot that I simply didn't care. DID I MENTION HOW MUCH I LOVED HIS WARDROBE IN THIS? OMG! HE LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL!
Also, many thank yous for the banner compliments. &hearts Of course, I don't know why I'm claiming credit for its awesomeness, that's all Uther and Morgana's doing.
