Just watched Passion. Oh god. No one told me that this show would make me bawl. It's 3:30 in the morning and I am a blubbering fool. GILES! JENNY! Oh, how my heart aches for him. Good lord, I wasn't even that invested in them as a couple, but I was tearing up before Giles even got to the body, and then when Willow started sobbing I started ( Read more... )

I was waiting for you to watch that episode! I didn't care for Jenny one way or another save for what she meant for Giles and was surprised about how much her death bothered me. I was also surprised at Giles' anger. What he did with it, I mean. Even later in the series I was still a little surprised about how calm he was with his violence sometimes.

I love the part when she punches him and cries and tells him she can't do this alone.

Same here! I couldn't believe how hard it made me cry. And gasp when he actually killed her. Man, that was harsh. I actually wasn't too surprised that Giles went to kill him. In fact, I was hoping for it, even though it was the stupid thing to do. For once Giles put his feelings before his duty, and while that broke my Buffy/Giles loving heart, it made me cheer for Giles' righteous spirit. But ooooooh how I loved the hug in the alley after Buffy punched him and told him she couldn't do this alone. Man, their bond was really solidified in that moment. Gah, it killed me.

This episode is one of the most traumatic fandomy things to have ever happened to me, ever, ever. SIGH.

It was pretty devastating indeed. My heart was actually aching for Giles last night. Or maybe I was just having heartburn? I don't know. But I was in pain. I never expected to get this invested with the characters on Buffy.

Do you see now why I love this show so much? It takes such interesting and shocking turns, and oh, Firth... it's just beginning.

There is a reason fans call Joss a genius (and evil and a god).

Angelus is my most favorite villain ever. He's so unapologetically evil and *smart* and David Boreanaz has a bounce in his step whenever he plays Angelus. Angel/us is a an alpha bastard to a really big degree whether souled or unsouled and things get more complicated once you see him in his series.

Also BtVS was the first fandom experience I had where everyone is shipped to everyone (although I never got into the Giles and Buffy thing -- they seemed far too paternal to me) but yeah, every single ship you can think of? Was shipped.

Oh, definitely. I was SO skeptical at first. I remember abhorring everything about the show (except for Giles, oddly enough) when I was a teenager. I obviously never saw any of season 2. The show is AMAZING! Now I'm mad at myself for being such a snob about it for so long. Well, I was a silent snob since I never expressed my feelings towards the show out loud, but still. I was a snob in my head.

Angelus is an amazing villain. I honestly don't want him to turn good again, but, I know it's coming eventually. *sigh*

Was shipped. This is awesomeness for me, because I honestly thought I'd find nothing for Buffy/Giles, and I came to find that there was actually a fairly large faction of B/G shippers and a whole lot of fanfic and meta, and this makes me very, very ( ... )

And in, like, ten years, it will still make you cry.

Unless I'm the only one...

BTW it's been fun to read your reactions to watching Buffy for the first time.

Ha! I'm sure I'll always cry when I watch the ep.

I'm glad you're enjoying my reactions! &hearts I was afraid I was annoying everyone with my constant reactions to a 10-year-old show. Not that that's going to stop me...

Oh no. I dreaded the moment when you would get to this episode, because I knew you'd just be devastated. And now I shall relive it, and join you.

GILES!!!! OH, POOR POOR DEPRESSED GILES!! MY HEART JUST HURTS FOR HIM!!!! =(

Passion is one of the best Buffy episodes, and yet it's the worst. I mean, Angelus basically kills everyone and makes the Scoobies just gief-stricken; and yet, it's such a good episode. In terms of filming and music and how enthralling it all was.

But regardless, I FEEL SO BAD FOR GILES! AND BUFFY! AND EVERYONE! =(

And then Buffy punched Giles and dropped to her knees and hugged him and said she couldn't live without him and they were both crying in each other's arms

YES! Oh, and what Buffy said: "You can't leave me, I can't to this alone." Oh my gosh, it just tore a hole in my heart. Boo hoo. =( Half of me was crying and screaming "Noo!" inside, and then the other half was gleeful at the splendidness of the Giles/Buffy moment.

God. They need each other. <3 ( ... )
