Now I'm really convinced that Merlin and Arthur would end up together romantically if it wasn't a family show.
Also, not too long ago, I read this article about bromances taking over the role of typical romances on television. This article made me pretty happy. They named Shawn/Gus AND Alan/Denny. That made me smile. But I disagreed with their "Most bromantic moments," especially Alan/Denny. I mean, if they're going to attempt to write an article about bromances successfully surpassing the typical het TV romance, then they need to delve deeper. Especially with Alan/Denny, because they have shared a tumultuous amount of bromantic moments, and have even gone so far as to admit to each other that they are each other's true love, and they wouldn't have it any other way. Now that's a real "bromance". Especially since they don't pussyfoot around the gay by trying to force them into twu wuv relationships with women that will never possibly compare to what Alan and Denny have together. I wish more shows would follow that formula. Especially Psych, because Shawn and Gus come so close to having the kind of love that Alan and Denny have, and trying to force Shawn and/or Gus into a lasting relationship with any woman makes my eyes roll. *coughShawn/Julietcough* Anyway, I think Merlin/Arthur can safely be added to the list of gayer than gay bromances. Ooooooh, how I love them. Very, very much. And we all know that in the end Arthur is horribly betrayed by Guinevere and Lancelot, so all he has left is Merlin. The characters in this version are very different from the original tale (especially since Merlin is a teenager instead of an old man), but come on, in the end, it'll still be Merlin/Arthur, it has to be. Merlin is the only person who will never betray Arthur.
