Life - A Crews/Reese Ship Manifesto

“This is Zen, right?” ~ Dani Reese, Life, 1x06 - Powerless

In a perfect world, I would have started this manifesto off with a Zen proverb that would have encompassed the essence that is the Crews/Reese relationship.  I assure you that I searched for ages, but alas, my efforts ended up being fruitless (ironically).  Perhaps because the Crews/ ( Read more... )

Uh, hi :) I hope you don't mind but I stumbled across this entry via the D/B LJ community, and wanted to say thanks for a great summary/analysis. Also for the fic recs. I just love this show so much and you have made me realize why I grow more in love with Damian Lewis every time I see him onscreen. ♥

Aww, thank you so much! I'm glad that my analysis managed to capture the essence of Crews and Reese!

This is great. You really did a wonderful job putting this all together and really focusing on some great moments in the show that really connect the two characters.

Wonderful!

Now, go. Get. Have a vacation, already!

Dang, FG! You are so ELOQUENT and you have such a wonderful way of explaining things! You've said everything I could have ever wanted to say about this show and its characters - and then some!

Will miss you while you're gone, but hope you have a wonderful time anyway! When is it you're leaving again?

Aww, thank you so much! *blushes* I'm glad that it captured your feelings about the ship, and that I managed to be eloquent at 3:00 in the morning.

sigh...i love them.

and i love u for posting this lovely essay about our favorite LA cops.

i've shipped in my time - Mulder and Scully, Buffy and Spike. but i've never shipped like i've shipped Crews & Reese. maybe it's the ability of all of us to communicate about the Creese ship in a way that wasn't available (to me) when X Files and Buffy were around. maybe i'm feeding off the love all of you have as well, thereby increasing my own. thereby making this the strongest character ship i've been into.

we are none of us alone, indeed.

Well said, Adlervan.

Personally, I've never shipped. Anyone. Nada. Zilch. Zip. Never even crossed my mind.

Until these two glorious disasters, I'd never even thought of that sort of thing, outside of RL.

Just goes to show you how well this show is done.

wow! never shipped? wow! well i think that might speak to your own healthy ability to form ships in the RL, which is awesome. me, i'm the troll hiding under the bridge waiting to snatch small children and eat them.

that also says a lot about the strength of the Creese that you ship them. i'm trying to figure out at what point my ship of them started. i know The Walk is a popular starting point...i'm not sure if it was mine. i'll have to ponder....

You've read my mind.
I love your interpretation of the 'Shower Scene' now I have to re-watch it...^_^

There's one thing I didn't understand (maybe you have an idea): I always wondered why Reese didn' want to dig in Charlie's life even if he's the first who wants to talk about that. For example:
- the tattoo: "would you like to see it?" "no".
- Carl Ames'a murder: "would you like to know if I am involved?" "no"

Is this because she don't need to know anything for she would be at his side whatever is the answer?

Is this because she trusts him above all?

Is this because the writers don't want Dani in Charlie's private life? ( at least not yet...)?

I hope you understand what I meant...I know I made all sorts of mistakes...;P sorry...

btw: wanderful post, two thumbs up!! ^_^

Thanks so much, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! As for your question, I think Reese just likes keeping a distance from Charlie. She likes to keep personal stuff away from work stuff. With the tattoo scene, part of me wants to believe that she was afraid that she'd be a little turned on, but I think it was more that she just didn't want to know something that personal about him, plus, she didn't know exactly where the tattoos are, and she never knows what to expect with Charlie. The Ames scene I think was Dani saying that she didn't need to hear it from Charlie, she already knew the answer, but again, it was also the personal stuff mixing in with the work stuff and she doesn't like it when that happens.
