I'm using my naked shoulder Damian icon again. I'm sorry, I can't help it. He looks so mobsterish that I just can't resist it (plus, you know, naked shoulder). Anywho:
1. Reply to this post and I’ll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.
So,
piecesofalice gave me V, and apparently I only have 2 songs in my entire collection that start with the letter V. So I had to do a bit of scrounging around on the net for V songs that I've actually heard before.
Vidalia - Sammy Kershaw OMG, I almost broke my neck getting to my CD rack to pull out this 13 year old CD. I pretty much forgot about it until the last second. Oh lord, I used to love singing this song. My dad would always tease me and say, "Why is he singing about an onion?" I LOVE THIS SONG!!! It's been YEARS since I've listened to it. And here, have a bonus track.
Meant to Be. That was the song that started my mini obsession with Sammy Kershaw (well, really,
it was the video more than the song, to tell the truth. Bwahahaha, oh mid-90s with your puffy hair and cheesy music videos, how I miss you. Oh! Oh!
Here's the sequel). Cor, I forgot how sexy Sammy used to be. And how old that girl made him look. Seriously, that second vid has a slightly pervy feel to it. Oh, you know what's funny about my CD? It has one of those "Lifetime Guarantee" stickers on the back from a store that went out of business about 10 years ago. Psh, fat lot of good that sticker does me.
Victim of the Game - Garth Brooks This one's even older than Sammy's song. But my CD isn't as old, because I had bought the CD in a boxset 10 years ago. The cassette tape that I originally had, on the other hand, is extremely old. Gah, I forgot how much I love this song. Garth always manages to sing everything with so much passion, and he totally brought it with this song. But you can tell that it's really old. When Garth sings live, he's very animated with his facial expressions, and I used to be SO serious and very into the facial expressions whenever I sang this song. Actually, I'm still that way when I sing Garth. You just can't sing a Garth song without over-dramatic facial expressions. You just can't.
Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) - Josh Groban I actually have the original Don McLean version if anybody wants it, but I'm posting the Josh Groban version, because it's purrrrty. The first time I heard this song was in 9th grade chorus class and we were doing this sort of show and tell thing with our music, and this kid named Joey got up in front of the class and sang this entire song for us, and I swear every single person's jaw dropped, because this kid was kind of a goofball, and then he gets up there and sings this incredibly beautiful song and he actually sings it well. It was pretty cool, and totally unexpected. (I played one of my Garth Brooks songs, naturally. I think I played The Dance. But I certainly didn't get up there and sing it for everyone).
Valentine - Martina McBride What? Did you really think that I'd do the letter V and not name a song called Valentine? By the way, I had no idea that there were so many songs called Valentine. Anyway, this is my girl Martina, with some help from Jim Brickman on the piano. It's a bit too easy listening for my tastes, but it's Martina, so...
Vertigo - U2 I'm not really much of a U2 fan, but I like a few of their hits. This one not so much because it was played on a cell phone commercial (or maybe it was an ipod commercial?) and the damn thing played over and over and over and over on every single thing that I watched, so I ended up hating the song because I couldn't get away from it. Now it's not so bad though.
And I'm going to share this song, too, even though it doesn't start with a V:
She's a Hottie - Toby Keith I just think that when a middle-aged man uses the term hottie, it's gotta be heard by all.

Because apparently I like stealing memes from
piecesofalice today. Or I could say that I'm stealing it from
atlashrugged:
1. It begins with a list of all 26 letters of the alphabet.
2. Comment with something for me to talk about that starts with one of those letters. Make me babble about anything -- TV shows, actors, actresses, food, idk, be creative.
3. One topic per letter -- it's like a claims list! I will cross off letters as topics appear. (As I'm sure I won't have 26 replies, you can claim two or three if you want.)
4. I will post a new post talking about all 26 topics given to me!
Feel free to make different variations of Damian topics. ;)
